Bio
I am an artist from Central Illinois. Received my Bachelors of Art from Illinois State University in 1988. These pieces are based on my spiritual walk through my own lives tragedy… then crippled by divorce and the unexpected death of my son.
Each piece is an expression of my faith, grief, love, anxiety, sorrow, joy, anger, excitement, fear etc. I was inspired by the healing nature of relationships and how intricately and ultimately pertinent those connections are. Not only the obvious relationships as with our God, partner, children, siblings and parents, ministers, friends, but also very simple brief connections. As simple as an acquaintance at the grocery store, a song on the radio, a touch, a dance, a quote… Every experience we have has an ultimate effect on how we see ourselves and the world around us.
I wish for all my work to communicate a spiritual undertone the viewer can feel something deeper and more powerful than just a visual image. Ultimately, causing them to question their own reality. Hopefully comforting others who have fallen victim to tragedy and encouraging them to work through the grief to enjoy life once more.
